Each year 50 newly published picture books are selected to be on the Villa Library “50 Nifty Picture Book” recommended book list. 

Books are selected to appeal to a wide range of interests and reading abilities at Villa Academy.

Reviewing sources and recommendations used include: American Library Association, Booklist, School Library Journal, National Book Award, Newbery Award, Caldecott Award, Young Reader’s Choice, Washington Children’s Choice Award, Sibert Award, CS King Award
